Formula 1 car on a floodlit circuit

Max Verstappen is the betting favorite for the Singapore Grand Prix at +230, per FanDuel's race winner market as read on Oct. 5, 2026, one day after he won the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli is next at +420. The Singapore Grand Prix odds 2026 board prices a race, not a coronation, and the arithmetic below shows why.

Antonelli leads George Russell by 84 points with seven rounds left, per formula1.com. That lead cannot finish the job at Marina Bay, even on a perfect weekend.

Singapore Grand Prix Odds 2026: The FanDuel Board

FanDuel's grand prix race winner market, as read on Oct. 5:

Max Verstappen +230

Kimi Antonelli +420

Lando Norris +600

Lewis Hamilton +650

Charles Leclerc +650

George Russell +800

Isack Hadjar +1000

Oscar Piastri +1200

Verstappen's +230 implies about 30 percent before the margin. Antonelli's +420 implies about 19 percent, and Russell's +800 about 11 percent. Per FanDuel's team of the winning driver market, Red Bull Racing is +160, ahead of Mercedes at +220 and Ferrari at +270.

In the top 3 market, Verstappen is -250 to finish on the podium and Antonelli is -110. Hamilton and Leclerc are both at even money, Norris is +165 and Russell is +175.

How Malaysia Reset the Market

Round 16 was the Bahrain Grand Prix, held at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Verstappen converted pole position into his and Red Bull's first win of the 2026 season, finishing 2.307 seconds ahead of Antonelli, with Hamilton third, per formula1.com's race report.

Russell's Mercedes ground to a halt on the start/finish straight behind the final Safety Car, per the same report. Sky Sports described it as a power unit issue. Per bet365 News on Oct. 4, Russell still has the prospect of a power unit penalty to serve.

The drivers' standings after Round 16, per formula1.com as read on Oct. 5:

1. Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes, 320 2. George Russell, Mercedes, 236 3. Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari, 214 4. Charles Leclerc, Ferrari, 191 5. Lando Norris, McLaren, 188 6. Max Verstappen, Red Bull Racing, 188

The Clinch Math: Why Marina Bay Cannot Decide It

1. Seven rounds remain. Singapore on Oct. 9 to 11, then the United States (Oct. 23 to 25), Mexico (Oct. 30 to Nov. 1), Brazil (Nov. 6 to 8), Las Vegas (Nov. 19 to 21), Qatar (Nov. 27 to 29) and Abu Dhabi (Dec. 4 to 6), per the formula1.com calendar. 2. A grand prix win pays 25. Singapore is the sixth and last sprint of 2026, and bet365 News puts the maximum for one driver at Marina Bay at 33 points. So a sprint win is worth 8, and every round after Singapore is worth 25 at most. 3. The pool is 183. Six grands prix at 25 is 150, plus Singapore's 33. bet365 News reached the same 183 on Oct. 4.

Antonelli is champion once his lead over every rival is bigger than the points still on the table.

Take the perfect weekend: Antonelli wins the sprint and the grand prix while Russell scores nothing. His lead becomes 84 plus 33, or 117, with 150 points still to come. No combination of results in Singapore can clinch the title.

The earliest possible clinch is therefore Austin, after which 125 points remain. From a 117 point lead, Antonelli would need to outscore Russell by nine in Texas to clear 125 outright. bet365 News put the figure at eight; on our count, eight leaves a lead of exactly 125, so Russell could only draw level on points. More generally, Austin only comes into play outright if Antonelli gains at least 17 points on Russell in Singapore: a 101 point lead plus a maximum 25 point swing in Texas makes 126, one more than the 125 left. Hamilton, 106 back, must also be kept beyond reach.

Now the more realistic version. If Antonelli and Russell score the same in Singapore, the lead stays at 84 with 150 left. Even a 25 point gain in Austin only takes it to 109, against 125 remaining. The door opens at Mexico, after which 100 points remain: a net gain of 17 across Austin and Mexico City gets the lead to 101. Per bet365 News, Mexico or Brazil are the most likely venues for the coronation. For the full background, see our earlier Antonelli clinch scenarios breakdown, whose numbers predate Baku and Sepang.

Betting and Futures Impact

The title market barely has a pulse. Antonelli is -7000 to win the drivers' championship, per FanDuel as of Oct. 5, an implied 98.6 percent. Russell is +3000, about 3 percent, with Norris, Verstappen, Leclerc and Hamilton all at +5500. Per bet365's F1 page, read the same day, Antonelli was 1/100 and Russell 33/1.

The live uncertainty is in the race market. Verstappen at +230 is the shortest price on the board, and per FanDuel's team market, Red Bull, not Mercedes, is the favorite. Russell at +800 is long for the driver Sky Sports notes won last year's Singapore Grand Prix, though the prospect of a power unit penalty is the obvious caveat until the grid is set.
