Seattle has the twenty eighth ranked offense in the league. They are facing a Detroit defense that ranks fifth overall. It's hard to imagine this struggling Mariners lineup suddenly finding their rhythm against one of the better defensive units in baseball. And then there is the spread data. The Mariners only cover thirty seven percent of the time when playing at home. Meanwhile, Detroit is a coin flip on the road at fifty percent. The model puts the spread at Detroit plus zero point six, but we are getting a full run and a half at the window. That eleven percent edge is one of the strongest on the board today. Don't be surprised if the Tigers win this one outright.

Bettors love backing home favorites in the late window, especially against teams with losing records like Detroit. But the public is ignoring the fact that Seattle has the third worst offense in the league and a pitcher who is currently imploding.

This total of seven is just way too low for the talent on the field. I know the names on the mound are Paul Skenes and Kyle Harrison, but the numbers tell a different story than the reputations. Skenes has been vulnerable lately. He is carrying a four point nine six ERA over his recent starts, which is a far cry from the dominance we saw earlier in the year. He is facing a Milwaukee offense that ranks fifth in the entire league. But it is not just the Brewers who can hit. Pittsburgh actually ranks third in offense. They are going up against a Milwaukee defense that is elite, ranking second, but the Pirates have shown they can put up runs against anyone. They are averaging over five runs per game this season. The head to head history also suggests we are in for some scoring. These teams have met eight times this year and Milwaukee has only won two of those games. The average margin in those games has been over a run in favor of Pittsburgh. Our model projects this total at seven point seven runs. Getting a line at seven gives us a massive ten percent edge. Both teams have the ability to clear this number almost by themselves if one of these young pitchers doesn't have his best stuff. And given that Skenes is struggling to find the zone lately, the over is the only way to look here.

Minnesota averages nearly five runs per game and they should have no problem hitting that mark against this Kansas City staff. On the flip side, the Royals offense is twenty fifth, but they are facing a Twins defense that is twenty sixth. Both of these units are among the worst in baseball at preventing runs. And the model bears this out. It projects a total of nine point one runs, giving us a comfortable seven percent edge over the eight point five line. Minnesota has covered the spread in fifty four percent of their road games and they are six and four in their last ten. They are the better team and their offense is in a prime position to explode tonight. Take the over and don't look back.
