Everything about this matchup suggests a tight, low scoring game. When you can get a run and a half in a game that figures to be decided by a single swing, you take it. The Guardians cover nearly half their games at home, and with Cantillo's current form, they should keep this well within the margin.

His recent form is a disaster, as he has posted a 10.00 ERA in his latest outings. You cannot trust a pitcher giving up runs at that rate against a Red Sox lineup that is league average or better. Patrick Sandoval is starting for Boston, and while his 4.20 ERA isn't elite, he's stable enough to let the Boston bats do the heavy lifting. The model expects a 2.2 run margin for the Sox, which clears the 1.5 spread easily. Seattle only covers 37 percent of their games on the road, which is one of the worst marks in the league. The big difference is the Kansas City defense, which ranks twenty-fifth in the league. They give up a lot of chances and often struggle to close out tight games. Miami already beat Kansas City earlier this year by three runs. The Royals might be the hot team in the standings, but the value is entirely on the Marlins to keep this close or win it outright. Perez gives them the starting pitching advantage that the line isn't fully reflecting.
