The Baltimore Ravens acquired two-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick from the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday, Oct. 7, sending back a 2028 second-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick, per ESPN. The Cam Jurgens trade gives Baltimore a long-term answer at a position where it was down to its fourth center of the season. Jurgens, 27, is under contract through 2029.
Cam Jurgens trade 2026: the terms
Here is the breakdown, per ESPN's trade tracker, which cited ESPN's Adam Schefter:
| Team | Gets | |-|-| | Ravens | C Cam Jurgens, 2027 seventh-round pick | | Eagles | 2027 fifth-round pick, 2028 second-round pick |
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said in a statement that Jurgens is "a player we have long admired going all the way back to the draft process" and called him "a young foundational piece along our offensive line."
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said the team was not looking to move Jurgens, but talks intensified over the previous 24 hours until the terms became what he thought would be a "win-win," per ESPN. Counting Drew Kendall's play at center, the picks and the freed-up money, he called it the Eagles "getting four players for one."
Why Baltimore needed a center
The Ravens have been trying to replace Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum, who signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in March, per ESPN. In late August, Danny Pinter was closing in on the starting job before a season-ending knee injury in a joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings. (Our Danny Pinter injury breakdown covered that blow.) Then, in Baltimore's 34-31 win in Rio de Janeiro, the Ravens lost Jovaughn Gwyn (broken fibula) and Ethan Pocic (knee). Gwyn, who started the first three games, is expected to miss two to three months, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
That pushed rookie first-round pick Olaivavega Ioane from right guard to center. Ioane is expected to start his second straight game at center Sunday night in Atlanta, then can move back to guard once Jurgens is ready to take over, per ESPN.
When Jurgens can play
Jurgens is in the concussion protocol. He self-reported symptoms Monday morning, Oct. 5, after Philadelphia's loss to the Rams, a source told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, per ESPN's trade tracker. ESPN's Seth Walder wrote that Jurgens is not expected to play Sunday.
Ravens coach Jesse Minter said the expectation is for Jurgens to be ready by next week. "Mentally, he is at a really high level, I would say," Minter said, per ESPN. "We will have to catch him up." Baltimore's next game after Atlanta is at the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 18, per ESPN's schedule.
The contract and the grades
Walder graded the Cam Jurgens trade a D+ for Baltimore and an A for Philadelphia. His case: Jurgens is due a fully guaranteed $16 million next year, then $17 million (non-guaranteed) in both 2028 and 2029. His $17 million average per year makes him the fourth-highest-paid center in the league behind Linderbaum, Creed Humphrey and Aaron Brewer, per OverTheCap.com figures cited by Walder.
This season he is cheap: the Eagles already paid his option bonus, so the Ravens should owe only the rest of his $1.2 million base salary, per Walder.
Performance is the open question. Jurgens moved from center to left guard in Week 2 after Landon Dickerson went on injured reserve, and Walder wrote that he ranks in the bottom three in both pass block and run block win rate at guard. As a center, though, he made the Pro Bowl in 2024 and 2025. Walder called the price exorbitant.
What it means for the Eagles
Philadelphia lost two offensive line starters in two days. All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson retired Tuesday, Oct. 6, and the Jurgens deal followed a day later, per ESPN. Dickerson remains on injured reserve with a knee injury.
For Sunday's London game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, ESPN reports rookie Markel Bell will start at right tackle and Willie Lampkin is expected to step in for Jurgens. Kendall stays at center.
Betting and DFS impact
Jurgens is not expected to suit up Sunday night, and Ioane is expected to stay at center in Atlanta. The bigger question for bettors is Lamar Jackson. An ESPN report published Oct. 7, citing NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, said Jackson's sprained ankle gives him only an outside chance to play against Atlanta. If he cannot go, Tyler Huntley would start.
DraftKings, per ESPN's game data read Oct. 8, has the Falcons at -3.5 with a total of 43.5. The moneyline is Atlanta -175 and Baltimore +145, which implies about 63.6% and 40.8% before the vig. Baltimore was the favorite when that line opened, per the same DraftKings data. The Ravens are 3-1 and the Falcons are 2-2.
For Philadelphia, DraftKings lists Jacksonville -7 with a 41.5 total in London, with the Jaguars at -360 and the Eagles at +285 on the moneyline (about 78.3% and 26.0% implied). The Eagles were also favored at the open. The 2-2 Eagles now plug rookie Markel Bell and Willie Lampkin into the starting lineup, and Lampkin should be in line for his first NFL start, per ESPN. DFS players weighing Jalen Hurts or Philadelphia's backs should factor in a front ESPN describes as makeshift. Our model's daily reads live on the NFL daily picks page.
