The NBA standings 2026-27 have exactly one unbeaten team: the Memphis Grizzlies at 5-0, with a plus-60 point differential and four of the five wins on the road. The Detroit Pistons and Philadelphia 76ers lead the East at 5-1, while the Minnesota Timberwolves hold the league's best point differential at plus-89 despite sitting seventh in the West. All records below come from ESPN's standings feed, pulled Oct. 31.

NBA Standings 2026-27: The Eastern Conference

Teams have played four to six games, so every number here is a small sample. Seeds are ESPN's own.

Detroit Pistons (seed 1): 5-1, plus-48, 109.8 points for and 101.8 against, won two straight

Philadelphia 76ers (seed 2): 5-1, plus-22, 108.7 for and 105.0 against, won two straight

Boston Celtics (seed 3): 4-1, plus-46, 120.8 for and 111.6 against, won four straight

Toronto Raptors (seed 4): 3-2, plus-53, lost their last game

Cleveland Cavaliers (seed 5): 3-2, plus-5, lost their last game

Atlanta Hawks (seed 6): 3-3, plus-28

Detroit and Philadelphia have the same record, and the Pistons hold the top seed with the stronger margin, plus-48 against plus-22. Boston is half a game back scoring 120.8 points per game, the best average among the East's top three. Toronto is the East's quiet outlier: a 3-2 record, but a plus-53 differential that is better than either of the 5-1 teams.

At the bottom, the Brooklyn Nets are 0-5 with a minus-55 differential and the Chicago Bulls are 1-5 at minus-95, the worst point differential in the league, after allowing 129.3 points per game. The New York Knicks are 2-4 and seeded 11th, and the Milwaukee Bucks are 1-4 at minus-54.

The Western Conference Table

Memphis Grizzlies (seed 1): 5-0, plus-60, 118.2 for and 106.2 against

Houston Rockets (seed 2): 5-1, plus-66, 121.0 for and 110.0 against

Oklahoma City Thunder (seed 3): 4-1, plus-18

Portland Trail Blazers (seed 4): 3-1, plus-35

Los Angeles Lakers (seed 5): 4-2, plus-31

Dallas Mavericks (seed 6): 4-2, plus-15, won three straight

Minnesota Timberwolves (seed 7): 4-2, plus-89, 121.5 for and 106.7 against

Memphis is the headline, and its profile is unusual. The Grizzlies are 4-0 on the road and 1-0 at home, so the unbeaten record rests on a thin home sample. Houston has the second-best margin in the West at plus-66 and its only loss is its most recent game.

Minnesota is the best example of why margin and record can disagree. Its plus-89 is the best in the NBA, ahead of Houston at plus-66 and Memphis at plus-60, yet the two losses leave it seventh. San Antonio is 3-2 with a plus-33 margin and holds the eighth seed, while Denver, at 3-2 with a minus-6 margin, is ninth.

At the bottom, the Sacramento Kings are 0-5 with a minus-83 differential after allowing 126.8 points per game, and the Phoenix Suns are 1-3 at minus-50.

How Title Odds Compare With the Standings

ESPN's futures feed lists DraftKings as the provider for the "NBA - Winner" market. The feed carries no timestamp, so confirm a live price before acting on any of it.

San Antonio Spurs: +290 (about 25.6 percent implied), currently 3-2 and the eighth seed in the West

Oklahoma City Thunder: +425 (19.0 percent), 4-1

Philadelphia 76ers: +850 (10.5 percent), 5-1

New York Knicks: +1000 (9.1 percent), 2-4

Boston Celtics: +1000 (9.1 percent), 4-1

Houston Rockets: +1500 (6.2 percent), 5-1

Toronto Raptors: +1600 (5.9 percent), 3-2

Minnesota Timberwolves: +1800 (5.3 percent), 4-2

The market is clearly not following the early standings. The favorite, San Antonio, is the eighth seed. The Knicks are priced the same as the Celtics at +1000 despite being 2-4 against Boston's 4-1. Detroit, the top seed in the East, is +2500, and Memphis, the only unbeaten team, is +20000 (about 0.5 percent).

The implied probabilities across all 30 teams add up to roughly 119 percent, so the book's built-in margin is large. Use the percentages to compare teams, not as true odds. For the full title market, see our NBA championship odds board.

Why Point Differential Matters More Than Record Right Now

With five or six games played, a single close result moves a team's record by up to 20 percentage points, while point differential keeps scoring information from every game. Six teams are at plus-46 or better: Minnesota at plus-89, Houston at plus-66, Memphis at plus-60, Toronto at plus-53, Detroit at plus-48 and Boston at plus-46. Of those six, only Houston, Memphis and Detroit hold a top-two seed in their conference.

Cleveland is the cautionary case: 3-2 and the fifth seed in the East, but with a plus-5 margin on 118.0 points scored and 117.0 allowed. The Knicks, at minus-4, are 2-4 with a nearly even scoring record, which is a closer scoring record than their 2-4 mark suggests.

What to Watch Next

The first thing to track is whether Memphis, 4-0 on the road and 1-0 at home, keeps winning as its sample grows. Second, watch whether the market moves toward Detroit and Houston if both keep winning, since their prices (+2500 and +1500) sit far from their seeds. For the East race specifically, our Eastern Conference odds board tracks the conference-winner prices. You can also see the official table on ESPN's NBA standings page.
