We have a massive fifteen game slate this Wednesday and the model has identified three major edges that stand out from the pack. Two of these plays involve taking points with underdogs that the market is currently undervaluing. There is also a significant mismatch in Boston that we need to exploit before the line moves. Let's get into the picks.

CLE vs TOR

The Guardians Are Getting Disrespected at Home

Cleveland Guardians +1.5Track on Stat Sniper

Analysis

The books are giving Cleveland a run and a half at home against a Toronto team that just isn't that much better. Joey Cantillo has been dealing lately for the Guardians. While his season ERA is 3.70, he has posted a much sharper 2.84 ERA over his most recent starts. On the other side, the Blue Jays send Dylan Cease to the mound. Cease is obviously a high level talent with a 2.33 ERA, but our model sees this game as a virtual tossup. The model spread is set at minus 0.1, which means getting the Guardians at plus 1.5 provides a massive 22.4 percent edge. Cleveland boasts a top ten defense, currently ranking seventh in the league. That is a nightmare matchup for a Toronto offense that has struggled all year, ranking twenty-ninth out of thirty teams. The Blue Jays simply do not score enough to be laying runs on the road against a disciplined team. These two squads have split their four meetings this season with an average margin of only 0.8 runs. Everything about this matchup suggests a tight, low scoring game. When you can get a run and a half in a game that figures to be decided by a single swing, you take it. The Guardians cover nearly half their games at home, and with Cantillo's current form, they should keep this well within the margin.

Public Fade

Bettors are blinded by Dylan Cease and his shiny ERA. They see a big name pitcher and assume Toronto will cruise, but they're ignoring the fact that the Blue Jays have the second worst offense in baseball.

Player Prop

Chase DeLauter UNDER 0.5 Walks

DeLauter is on a serious cold streak right now and hasn't recorded a single walk over his last five games. His walk rate at home is also 7 percent lower than his season average, and the model only gives him a 30.4 percent chance to reach via a base on balls today.

BOS vs SEA

Boston Should Roll Against a Fading Mariners Squad

Boston Red Sox minus 1.5Track on Stat Sniper

Analysis

This is a classic case of a team heading in the right direction versus a team in a total freefall. The Seattle Mariners are dead last in the league in offense. It does not matter who they're facing, they just cannot buy a hit right now. Now they have to deal with a Boston team that has won six of their last ten games and is hunting for a playoff spot. The Red Sox offense is solid, ranking in the middle of the pack, but they look like offensive juggernauts compared to Seattle. The real story here is Bryce Miller. His recent form is a disaster, as he has posted a 10.00 ERA in his latest outings. You cannot trust a pitcher giving up runs at that rate against a Red Sox lineup that is league average or better. Patrick Sandoval is starting for Boston, and while his 4.20 ERA isn't elite, he's stable enough to let the Boston bats do the heavy lifting. The model expects a 2.2 run margin for the Sox, which clears the 1.5 spread easily. Seattle only covers 37 percent of their games on the road, which is one of the worst marks in the league. Expect the Sox to jump on Miller early and never look back. The Mariners' defense is decent, but it won't matter if their starter is serving up batting practice.

Public Fade

The public often likes taking the Mariners as a road underdog because of their pitching reputation. But Bryce Miller is currently a human tee and the Seattle bats have completely disappeared.

Player Prop

Randy Arozarena UNDER 0.5 Walks

Arozarena has stayed under this walk line in 15 of his last 25 games. While Sandoval can be wild, Randy is currently trending 2 percent below his normal walk rate, making the under a strong play.

KC vs MIA

Miami Is the Value Play in Kansas City

Miami Marlins +1.5Track on Stat Sniper

Edge

16.4%

Confidence

83%

Analysis

Kansas City is coming in hot with eight wins in their last ten games, but the market is overreacting to that streak. They are laying 1.5 runs against a Miami team that has Eury Perez on the mound. Perez has been excellent this season with a 3.44 ERA and has shown he can shut down league average lineups. On the other side, Noah Cameron has a 3.98 ERA for the Royals. While he has been better recently, he is facing a Marlins defense that ranks tenth in the league and can provide plenty of support for their young ace. Our model has this game as a near tossup, projecting a spread of only minus 0.1 for the home team. Getting the Marlins at plus 1.5 gives us a 16.4 percent edge. Miami's offense and Kansas City's offense are statistically almost identical, as both teams score 4.3 runs per game. The big difference is the Kansas City defense, which ranks twenty-fifth in the league. They give up a lot of chances and often struggle to close out tight games. Miami already beat Kansas City earlier this year by three runs. The Royals might be the hot team in the standings, but the value is entirely on the Marlins to keep this close or win it outright. Perez gives them the starting pitching advantage that the line isn't fully reflecting.

Public Fade

Everyone is chasing the Royals' recent win streak and assuming they'll keep rolling. They're ignoring the fact that Miami has the better starting pitcher and a much better defensive ranking.

Player Prop

Eury Perez UNDER 2.5 Earned Runs

Perez has stayed under this 2.5 run total in 14 of his 24 starts this season. He actually performs better against mid tier offenses like Kansas City, where he averages only 1.0 earned run per game.

Stick to the model and do not get distracted by recent win streaks or big names. We have three strong edges tonight so let's make them count. Good luck with your tickets.
