TOTALS BETTING
A totals bet — the over/under — is a wager on the combined score of both teams, not on who wins. This guide explains how the number is set, how to bet the over or under, and how to find value, with AI-backed reads inside Stat Sniper.
The total, or over/under, is a single number set by the sportsbook for the combined points, runs, or goals scored by both teams. You bet whether the actual combined score finishes over that number or under it — the winner of the game is irrelevant.
Because it ignores who wins, the total is a bet on pace and efficiency: scoring environments, tempo, weather, pitching, and injuries all push the number up or down. Most totals are priced near −110 on each side, the same standard juice as the spread.
