That makes the Vezina Trophy odds 2026-27 board the strangest of the award markets: the favorite may not have a team to play for, and the man who won it last June is priced as the fourth choice.

Covers lists BET99's prices as of Sept. 14. Teams below come from NHL.com's Sept. 22 fantasy win projections, which reflect offseason moves (Sergei Bobrovsky is now listed with Toronto, for example).

Connor Hellebuyck, Jets (+500). Hellebuyck is a three-time Vezina winner (2020, 2024, 2025) and took the Hart Trophy in 2024-25, when he went 47-12-3 with a 2.00 GAA and .925 save percentage, per NHL.com. Last season was a different story: 23-23-11, 2.86 GAA and .895 save percentage in 57 games as Winnipeg finished 35-35-12 and missed the playoffs. He publicly confirmed a trade request Aug. 27, and the Jets suspended him for not reporting to camp. NHL.com's Jets preview says Stuart Skinner will get the first crack at the No. 1 job. Logan Thompson, Capitals (+550). Thompson has posted 31 wins in each of the past two seasons, going 31-21-6 with a 2.44 GAA and .912 save percentage in 58 games last season, per NHL.com. NHL.com projects 35 wins for him this season, third highest on its list. Covers notes he has yet to be nominated despite two fourth-place finishes.

Ilya Sorokin, Islanders (+800). Sorokin finished runner-up in last season's voting with eight first-place votes and 51 points. He went 29-24-2 with a 2.68 GAA and .906 save percentage and led the NHL with seven shutouts in 55 games, per NHL.com.

Andrei Vasilevskiy, Lightning (+850). On June 6, Vasilevskiy was named winner of the 2025-26 Vezina, his second after 2018-19, with 17 first-place votes and 114 points. He led the league with 39 wins (39-15-4, 2.31 GAA, .912 save percentage) in 58 starts, per the NHL.com announcement. NHL.com's fantasy staff projects 39 wins again, the highest total on its list, yet he is only the fourth choice here.

Igor Shesterkin, Rangers (+900). The 2021-22 winner went 25-19-6 with a 2.50 GAA and .912 save percentage in 51 games for a Rangers team that ranked 23rd in scoring, per NHL.com.

Camp News That Could Move the Board

Hellebuyck's status is the whole market right now. Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff said Sept. 17 that Hellebuyck remains "part of our family until he’s not part of our family," and NHL.com notes he has five seasons left on his contract. A lengthy holdout would drain the games he needs, since NHL.com's projections give him 26 wins, the fewest of any goalie on this board.

Buffalo's crease also took hits in the final days of camp. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen left the Sabres' preseason finale Saturday early in the third period with a lower-body injury, and coach Lindy Ruff said "Didn't want to take any chances," per the NHL.com Status Report. Ruff also said Alex Lyon was "going to miss a few days, for sure" with an upper-body injury. Neither Buffalo goalie appears on the BET99 board.

Betting Angles and Value

History favors patience with longer prices. Per BetMGM opening odds cited by Covers, six of the last nine winners opened at +1200 or longer, including Linus Ullmark at +8000 in 2022-23 and Vasilevskiy himself at +1200 last season. Only three of those nine opened shorter than +1000.

The case for Vasilevskiy at +850 over Hellebuyck at +500 rests on workload, not history. Vasilevskiy has the top win projection on NHL.com's list (39) and a fresh endorsement from the general managers who vote on the award. Hellebuyck's +500 prices in a clean trade and a normal workload, and neither is guaranteed with the season two days away.

Further down, Covers' own pick is Wallstedt at +2500. NHL.com's Aug. 17 top goalie list notes Wallstedt was first in save percentage (.916) among rookie goalies with at least 10 games last season, and NHL.com projects him for 34 wins. Dobes at +2250 is the other name worth a small stake: NHL.com says he led first-year goalies with 29 wins last season and started all 19 of Montreal's playoff games.

What to Watch Next

The season opens Sept. 29 with Carolina hosting Florida, per NHL.com, so Markstrom's Panthers are among the first teams on the ice. The key dates for this market are any Hellebuyck trade, the first two weeks of save percentage for Thompson and Sorokin, and Luukkonen's status for Buffalo's opener.
