Where the Cup was won
The scoring made Saturday night the hinge. Team World won both day session matches to lead 5-3 six matches in. Europe then took both night matches, starting with Alcaraz's 13-11 match tiebreak over Fritz, a rematch of the 2025 meeting Fritz won in San Francisco.
That left Europe up 7-5 and needing two Sunday wins. Fritz said afterward that Team World, needing three of four Sunday matches, had to submit its lineup first while Europe got to respond. Vice captain Tim Henman said Europe paired Cobolli and Mensik in Sunday's doubles partly to keep Alcaraz fresh for a second singles match if required. It was not needed.
The match tiebreak split is the stat worth keeping. World went 3-2 in the five matches decided by a 10-point breaker and 0-5 in the rest. As de Minaur put it, per the official site: "A couple points here and there could have changed the whole tie."

Alexander Zverev (Europe). He went 2-1, lost the 11-9 match tiebreak to de Minaur, then won Saturday's doubles with Ruud and the Sunday clincher. Per the Laver Cup, he is the event's all-time leading scorer with 26 points, owns the most singles wins at the event with eight, and has been part of all six Team Europe titles.
